Unique opportunity to combine two face-to-face practical CPD training days at a DISCOUNTED price. ONLY £325 for both days together

DAY 1 Foundations in Food has been designed to support non specialist and new teachers who are teaching food at KS3. It will give teachers the opportunity to look at the pedagogy of teaching food and cover the practical requirements which will help 60 minute practical sessions run smoothly.

Focusing on Basic Nutrition, Health and Safety, setting up demonstrations and tips on how to set up the practical classroom. The practical aspect of the day will consist of a hands-on approach, covering key practical skills required at KS3 and provide ready to use resources to take away.

Training outcomes
By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Describe the requirements of the KS3 (11–14-year-old learners) D&T curriculum

  • Explain and demonstrate a wide variety of practical skills.

  • Identify and explain the links to nutrition, food safety, food science, food choice, and food provenance through carrying out practical sessions.

DAY 2 Food Safety in Classrooms includes award of Level 2/Foundation Food Safety and accreditation for the national recognised framework for food teaching standards.

This course is designed specifically for those working in schools as it delivers the Level 2 content with school examples to make it relevant to your everyday work.

Teachers will be provided with nationally recognised accreditation and certification for teaching food safely in schools.

They will also be able to teach elements of food safety confidently:

  • Award and certification for Level 2/Foundation Food Safety recommended renewal every 3 years.

  • Accreditation for the national recognised framework for food teaching standards SECTION 9.1 to 9.6 . Implementing good food safety and hygiene Food teaching in secondary schools: A framework of knowledge and skills
